The MTX is a class D, so it will be more efficent, and draw less current, but the ZR1000 is a great clean A/B amp, but will draw more juice.

The MTX puts out max power at 2 ohms mono.

The Kicker puts out max power at 4 ohms mono.

The Kicker is still expensive because it was originally $1500 and it is still one of the best two channel amps ever made.

Both amps will do about 1500 watts.

Personally, if they were around the same price, I would get the ZR1000 in a heartbeat. Big class Ds are a dime a dozen these days, but a nice, big two channel is hard to come by and expensive. The Kicker is full range also and would be incredible on a some high end components. [Eek!]

I LOVE my 8100D's. You won't be disappointed. They're very powerful and clean....great for daily driving (155.2 dB on two Shocker Extremes) and sound awesome for daily driving (50 cent, Staind, Linkin Park, etc). I have nothing but good things to say about this amp.

With my personal experience with the 81000D's, I'd say stick with the MTX. They are really powerful amps and will do justice above the guy down the street with his loud system. I've owned prob 4 of these beasts, no not all at once (but did have 2 at one time). Also just FYI, I'd add another battery and/or upgrade to a higher output alt. for more power from the amp.
