I can get 2 JBL 1200's for $550 and US 4000X for about $850. I have some questions--

1. Which one is better for daily driving?
2. Which is more reliable? (very important)
3. Most bang for the buck?
4. Least current draw?

Thanks. My decision depends on your answers [Smile]

better quality the JBL's most bang prob the 4000x the 4000 dont have crossovers or gain outputs its basically a burping amp only for SPL. go with the JBL's you will save money and will be quite happy.

The JBLs will stomp that 4000 for anything but a short 16+volt burp, YOU CANNOT DAILY DRIVE IT! [Smile]

max draw on the JBL is 140A compared to about 400A on the 4000X, which is not for daily driving.

P.S. Why are you paying so much for either of these??

I would bet if you look hard you can get that 4000X for the same as you have put for those JBL's unless those are prices for new stuff

Well there's a couple people that are doing it with an external crossover without any problems. I personally would just get the 2000x.

Yep, I actually did meet one guy (who was doing so) at a San Jose show back in August, and I didn't see him again until a few weeks ago, when he told me that it had fried shortly after he hooked it up for a Daily Driver. [Frown]

Max draw from the JBL is said to be 114A, not 140.

That's exactly why I wouldn't do it. That a very expensive risk, and if it were to blow, you're screwed. [Mad]

You CAN daily drive the 4000X and it WILL stomp two JBL 1200.1's.
I'd imagine, from prior testing, one 2000X would stand close to two JBL's.

You may want to go with the JBL's now. US doesn't make the 4000X anymore. They don'e even have the boards nor any support for them. Get the 2000X They do have other things in mind though....
