I have a RF 1100a2 with my subs wired as a 4 ohm load bridged down to 2 ohms at the amp. A friend told me my amp could handle a 2ohm load bridged down to 1 ohm if I got 2 duel 2 ohm subs! What do you think: a. could my amp handle it and if it can, just for comp or all the time? and b. would it realy produce more wattage or would it go into protection mode?

Some can some can't but I would just stay at 2 ohms.

Maybe I wasnt clear. I'm showing the amp 4 ohms (bridged) and I'm thinkin about hookin up a 2 ohm load (bridged) to it. Thanx and keep the helpful comments coming

maybe he was thinking a 2ohm load ends up as a 4ohm after adding the box impedense rise

It will probably do ok at 2 ohm mono. I ran a Power 360a2 that way for a while...it went into protection if played hard for longer than 20 minutes or so, but never blew.

Go for it! I've run every RF amp I've ever owned at either 2 ohm mono or 1 ohm mono. Amps I have run at this impedance are as follows; 360a2, 120a2, and bd1000.1. The 360a2 I ran at 1 ohm mono and it would get hot but only shut down 2 twice after extended play. I also ran my bd1000.1 at 1 ohm mono and it never even got warm. The 120a2 I ran at 2 ohm mono and it would get rather warm after about 3 hours of continous play but would never shut off. The 360a2 and bd1000.1 ran subs and the 120a2 ran a set of components. If you are still shaky about doing it run it at 1 ohm for awhile if it shuts down and you get concerned then rewire it. If not enjoy the extra power!

bd1000.1 is stable down 2 2ohm
my punch experiences:
2 BD1000A1's ---- ran at 1 ohm everyday no problems. I tried one at .5 ohm and it would go into protect when i cranked it immediately.
2 Punch 200.2's from @1997---- ran at 1 ohm everyday no problems.
Punch 225.2----ran at 2 ohm everyday and then 1 ohm everyday, no problems.
Punch 400.4 Ran at 1 ohm stereo, amp got hot, but no problems.
Punch 100IX from @1996 i think, ran at 1 ohm everyday no problems
Punch Power 250x2 @1996 ran at 2 ohm everday no problems, then i let my friend have it and he blew it up at 2 ohm. I think it was a bad ground causing a voltage drop.
Punch 40's and 45's I've ran at 2 ohm mono no problems ever. I've probably had some more Punch amps but i can't remember. My all time favorite amps as you can see are made by Rockford.
If you plan on running these amps below 4 ohms use your head. Don't crank it up all day long. Make sure you have a good electrical system and proper wire size to feed the amp power.
good luck with your system,

The only way I'd recommend you run that 1100 at a show I'm at is 4-8 ohms, or else you might be too loud...
I'm not yet sure, but I doubt I'll be able to do the D2s Zac, dang it! - but maybe you can do all 4 4ohm coils in parallel for a reactive 1.5 - 2 ohm load, and try a different amp that wants 1-2ohms.
