these things are very under rated actually. i was the only dealer that got to test two of the prototype x1001's. they are strong amps and destroy their ratings all together. all my tests are on reactive loads at a reactive value of impedence. at a reactive 4 ohms expect more that 700watts. at a reactive 2 expect over 1400watts. the only problem i have with the amp is reactivly it will protect at about 1.6 ohms. but if you can find a way to hit its sweet spot at about 1.7 ohms you will get around 1800watts out of it. i have played with 12 of the x1001's all year and i haven't blown one yet. and they are very effecient. around 85% at full load and will pull 90% at 4 ohms.

From the test results I have seen and heard from other installers, the x1001 puts out somewhere in the neighborhood of 1480 watts at 1.3 ohms

well, I dont see exactly why xtant would make one of their amps unlike every other amp in their lineup, but you could be right. all the others are very tightly regulated, and I just dont see that happening. it lists the amp as a regulated PS, and personally, i just dont see it doing that much power. Publish your results and how you tested them, and they might be credible, but an amp thats rated at 1000x1 @ 1 ohm with a tightly regulated PS just doesnt look to put out 1800x1 as you claim....

and as far as efficiency goes, who cares about efficiency at full load? efficiency at listening volumes is a MUCH more important spec, imo.... You dont go listening to music at 100% volume, and youre a fool if you use Xtant amps for dbDrag...

well as far as the amp is concearned i dont have much electrical sys stock 70 amp alt and soon a yellow top or svr 75 wanting to run street class cause dont know if i can afford ss1-2 evently thats where i want to be but not 02 season aint gonna make it my question is this with those limitations i have would the xtant be dominated by the D2, RF1500.1, and other big dclass amps out there thanks for the responces

well obviously i have no idea what i am talking about. and for anyone else besides the general. which knows just about everything there is to know about xtant. all xtant amps are underated about 40% across the board. why do you think they did so well in iasca. one of the hardest things about doing well in iasca is running a small power class (sound quality) and not having enough power to run the setup. xtant has always been under rated. i whipped everyones ass i came across with my single xtant 3150c. rated at 2x25 and 1x100 mono. wow a 150watt amp in the 150 watt class. the amp can do a collective 500watts. i measured 295 out the mono channel only. if you want to do you own tests. take a x1001 and wire up two of last years xtant x series 2 ohm subs in parallel. i can tell you reactively those subs will run around 1.8 to 2.1 ohms total. measure your output voltage on the amp. also measure you current draw. you will see the amp pull around 165 amps. i can post alot more data but i have waisted enough time trying to prove myself to a guy that thinks eff means nothing and a 1500 watt plus super clean strapable amp would not be a usable amp for db drag. we got an invite to the finals using the xtant x1001's. and being a little psychic i'll bet some money you will see us there again next year. oh did i mention we went last year with all xtant. oh well.
hey rockford if you want to talk some more email me.
also on a pair of of dd 9012's dual 4 ohm the xtant will out do a d2. it just matters what impedence you plan on running. at the impedence the subs were running at the x1001 put out about 150watts more. i am not saying the x1001 can do more than a d2, but it can at some impedences.

email me jellis ctquarles@hotmail.com i spoke with xtant tech support they told me it would do an easy 1600w at 1.3 to 1.6 so i think this would be a better match with my weak electrical sys cause the D2 aint gonna get 2kw off my 70 amp alt and a batt i dont think any other thoughts out there ?

Props to Jellis because this man knows his Xtant. I got whooped a few times by Xtant this year by the way in their vehicles. I also saw first hand the power that these amps can do. I can't say anymore until after finals, but I'm sure you will see Xtant there.

you misquoted me quite badly... i didnt say that efficiency means nothing. however, at a listening level in competitions of ~90db or so, is your amp at full load? absolutely not. The highest efficiency ever at 1/3 power tested was the RF bd1000.1 by carsound at ~70 %, and that was a long shot better than most amps out there.
again, you getting all defensive and not making clear and concise arguments along with data to back it up doesn't show me very much about your testing procedures. If youre so confident about this amps ability to put out 1800w rms, which i think is a laughable number unless its peak, I challenge you to send in an X1001 to be bench tested by Autosound 2000. They'll do it for free, they did it to my Hifonics XI-Zeus and a couple others at random for some of the carsound forum regulars. So, imo, since you were extremely rude to me, you need to put up or shut up.... Winning in IASCA can be a result of hundreds of factors other than raw power output of your amplifiers....

Xtant amplifiers have problem, when voltage drops and heat goes up the power supply will fold back. True this is a good feature but the one down fall is when you have a 100x2 amplifier the supply will fold back 70% of it's rated power. I how do I know this, I worked for Xtant for 2 years. When the old crew was there. Bruce McMillan, Jeff Schoon,Sam Zamora Etc.

well, i did a test yesterday. i powered two subs with one d2 at .5ohm nominal load. 153.5db. then i disconnected the d2, and installed an xtant 1001x. same load, 152.3db. i was pretty impressed by the xtant, considering that it is rated for half the power of the d2, which means that the difference between the two should have been more like 3db, instead of .8db. also, the xtant is the first 1000 watt amp i ever seen with 0awg power terminals, 8awg speaker terminals, and a recomended fuse rating of 120amps. this is definatly one of the biggest balls 1000 watt amp i ever had my hands on. and as for being a fool for using xtant for dbdrag, i feel that the right installer can make anything happen. and i may be "MR. RIGHT" cya@finals

thermopolis i agree with you. that is on last years stuff and previous. the 2001 and newer is under an all new design. tweaked much better. overall this years stuff is much better than xtants lines from the past. and that is saying alot when you see an awesome product get even better.

That honestly doesn't prove anything at all. I have seen many, including myself, double power and gain next to nothing at all. 1.2 dB could represent four times the power for all we know?? Im not saying the amps are not capable, im saying that test proves 0.

hey conclusive. your point does hold some weight, but what you are refering to usually is due to the thermal capabilities of the sub. when you start getting into insane power yes subs can go into thermal compression. which won't give you your typical gains because of the coil getting hot and rising impedence. geo x's test was using 1 d2 on two shocker 15's. which i doubt very highly they were going into any real thermal compression. and then using the same load on one x1001. this test in my opinion does hold some weight do to the fact those subs can easily handle that power without worrying about breaking up. just my opinion with a little tech fact thrown in.
