Stetsom = good for music and burp. And less expensive than most other amps of same power.

I ran my Stetsoms at .5 daily for over three years and they are in my shop still good.......Just changed them out for more power. In daytona in o7 I rolled two strapped at .125 ohms and did a 158. But wouldnt suggest doing it to anyone else.Power means nothing without control.............

I'm not one to play with the ohms. If it calls for 1 ohm, then that's what I'll give them. No lower.

when an amp calls for 1 ohm that usually is after rise if you got a 2or3X rise then you would have to configure your nominal impedience to get to that impedience after rise, does that make sense? say a 2x rise .5 X 2 = 1 or a 3x rise .35 x 3 = 1.05 just cause your speaker is a certain impedience doesnt necessarily mean your amp is seeing that impedience.

Thanks Steve. Some guys blow up every amp they have. I'm not with that. Just trying to have fun.

This is only valid for frequencies that you absolutely know the impedance, example BURPS.
For music we normally (unless you have plotted the impedance x freq transfer function) have no clue what will be the overall impedance that the amplifier plays. Normally this rise is less than half of the one at a burp (because is common to burp near the driver's second impedance peak on a vented box).
I see this as a common mistake and a cause of lots of failures on amps in general.
In addition to that, the use of not-so-good measuring equipment can easily mask the impedance rise (example: clamp meter not true-RMS reading clipped current lower than the reality).
We recommend to respect the minimum impedance of our amps, their high voltage power supply will take care of the impedance rise transferring the power at higher impedances.

I've just simulated this in order to illustrate
Is a 15" L7
You can see that in the RED area the impedance will be close to it's nominal impedance, and normally that area is the one with more energy on a music. A little bit to the right you will see the second impedance peak, and you will notice that is always where we normally burp.

I always wondered how to calculate the impedience rise on music.....still a noob I guess, thanks for the info. You still bringing the beer for finals?????

Also important to note... the plotted impedance curve does not = music. It is equal to playing one sine wave after another, which is not what music is.

It is a good point, but the power compression will balance that, raising a little bit the overall impedance after some moments of listening, specially if you are sending at least the nominal power of the speaker.
