SD and stetsom and banda or how its called... but other like cactus, DD, ground zero and so many more have their best amp strong too...
This is more what you want...I'm sure itsn' not hard to find one that is in several kw's range

Well my reason for asking is that I am retiring the Crown and I need good reliable power (and a lot of it) on 12v.

12V meaning for SPL or playing music because some of those don't play music and some of those do both and I don't mean play music for only 30 seconds. I think a good 12v amps is the one that can do both.

pipo Let me put it in beter words. What he meens is the turbo model and non turbo amp sd and at one point stetsom have had these amps. The non turbo is ment to play both music and burps. and the turbo is only for burps but if the imp is high enough ya can play music but i have known even them to let out some times. with a box rise of 1.5 and up.
no amp is bulit proof and if taken care of proper with batterys and used at the right imp they will last longer.
so when ya buy an amp ask all sorts of ? and make sure you ask pepole that have used both tupes of amps if that select corp has a amp of this type.
because both amps get loud but some care is needed when ya play with the turbo type of amp.
Then you have your amps that one is just ment for 12volt and one is ment for 16 volt like stetsom old 7kd and soundstream 7k and 10k and the samson the memphis 4k and the clif desighn visonic Ma hk4000d just to list a few they are ment for 16 volts + but work ok on 12 volts if ya have enough battery.
Then ya have the amps that do both Cs sd stetsom banda just to list a few that will work well on both 12volt and 16 volt but dont forget about my first post here about the turbo amps. they are not ment for music.
All These amps would like ya more if ya have more batterys but some dont call for them.
I hope this is what ya ment Pipo and sorry if i afended some on this post but it is fact.

A Good powerfull amp should be the one you can use for SPL/Music/1 battery/100 batteries/16/12 V etc.
again that's just my personal opinion.

And that's what you need to ask to the manufactures the will tell you the truth specially if they are trying to put their brand out there.
And really sometimes the product you want to run is does not have to be the best out there but the one that give you the best service, to me that's more valuable than anything else.
