Just a quick question. I am having problems finding an amp(s) to compete with this weekend.

I have 2 choices. Not compete and thats not a real option..and the other is this use my 250R. I know the factory rated specs and all but my question is this. The subs I have is 2 Shocker2 15's. Dual 2 ohm coils. So I can run the amp at 2 ohm mono or .5 mono or 1 ohm stereo. What would you suggest? Will it even take the .5 for just a few burps?

What would you do?

Well maby 3 options....Anyone have an amp or 2 or more that I can borrow/rent for this weekend? My amps I am getting come out midd to the end of this month....so can ANYONE help me PLEASE.....

i'm not positive, but i do think that amp will take that for a burp.

Go for it. We had this similar problem but used a RF Power amp rated @ 250watts. Go for .5. I am almost 100% that I’ll feed it fine.

Seeing as the amp is not regulated and what not. Do you think I will get any kind of gain at .5 mono vs 1 ohm stereo?

Also thanks for the help!

Go for .5 ohm...Very short bursts.
Do anything you can to stabilize the power
going into the amp. And you will see a
significant difference between 2 ohm and .5
ohm.

ya...I see power to the 250r bring of little problem. Seeing as it will have 8 8 volts...so 4 16 volts as reserve.

kewl...that is what I will do...if I dont find another option...

Thanks...

I'm afraid I can't remember that amp well
enough to venture a power guess. Especially
at a crazy load like .5 ohm.

lol ya...

amp is 800x1 at 12 volts at 1 ohm...orion is claiming like 1190 watts at 1 ohm 16+ volts..and also claim it will double its power when ohm load is halfed...

so who knows..

I'd say that amp would probably do about 1500 at that impedence. Just like any amp, it will reach a certain point where it just won't make any more power. Just my theory.

Go for it, At the 98 NSPL finals, in my girlfriends car i had a 2150, a 2ohm stereo amp run .5 ohm stereo. The amp didnt even shut down. I gained 3db from the extra power. So it seemed to me i atleast got double the power from the amp. And in your case you will have alot more voltage than i did, i was holding only 13.6 under load. Go for it it will take it. In my comp vehicle i had xtr 800s ran at 1ohm stereo all season, and even during demos, and never had one shut down.
