Does anyone have the schematic for or know how to mod the VFL 400.1 to run on 18V?

Does anyone have any tips as for how to make the board more secure? I have one that died due to 2 of the fets slowly breaking off from the case leads from board vibration? Do I just need to get creative here? [Wink]

i heard the older 400.1s would handle 18v but the new ones dont like it. try mounting the amp off any solid surface with like 1" spacers. will give better cooling too.

make your mounting surface stronger. don't mount amps to an underbuilt box.

This one is a 2005.07 Rev #1. Not sure if you class that as "new" or not, but I don't have the schematic for it and I can't find it, so I'm asking around.

I was talking about inside the physical amp, the last 400.1 I fixed had mosfets broken off at the case due to the alternating pressure flexing the board. It was mounted directly under the box and setup, in the spare tire like area.

Runs 18V fine, had a similar amplifier with that board rev and it ran 18V - did big power at 18V.

I kno that the AB 500.1's go into protect at 17.8v... and that you must use a 12v remote .... would imagine that they are the same

Might just be difference in meters lol... only thing that sucked for me is that my batts sit at 17.6 so my alt could only run .2v over what my batts sat at so I dont think that it did much to charge them until they were starting to get drained pretty bad
