Most amps in the U.S use series when you strap two amps. The stetsom do paralleled. Instead of connecting a positive of one amp to the negative of the other amp and then using the open positive from one amp and the open negative from the other amp to the speakers, you connect one negative of one amp to the negative of the other amp and then do the same for the positive of each amp. And then connect a positive and a negative terminal from either amp to the speakers. Hope that makes sense. And that is why the impedance is doubled for the Stetsoms.

I did testing in one of my vehicles. On two DD 9512's in a street beat box running one Batcap 2000 battery we were running 2 DD M3 amps linked at 1 ohm and did a 149.8 on the termlab. With 1 Stetsom 12 volt 7KD we did a 151.9. Also keep in mind the DD amps are meant to run at 2 ohms strapped and the 7KD will work best at .25 so The gain would be much more if I was able to get the Stetsom much lower and yes that vehicle can daily ground pound with the stetsom amp very nicely.

that just goes to show how efficient the 12v model 7kd is...making 6k + at mid 10v

Just so you know the 7k 12volt version doesn't like under .5ohms. The 16volt likes .25ohms. But nice results.

I know of some people having no problems with getting the amp burping at .35 but only because of such high imp rise.

Yah, impedance rise will have to be 1.8ohms or higher if nominal is .35ohms. Not saying the 7k 12volt won't burp at .25 but it just gets very inefficient and doesn't get any louder. The 7k 16volt will burp at .175ohms and gets louder.

How are you guys that play music doing with these amps?
I would like to know how there performing on a standard 12v system at around 1ohm? Can they play for long periods of time? What kind of output are you seeing? what kind of amperage draw are you seeing?
I hear some chatter on other boards about them failing or having weak parts? How well are they suited for a daily pounding?

Where you reading this at? Only thing I've read is about efficiency and that's somewhat true for the 7kd 16volt version but you can fix that by getting the 12volt version. Or if you want to pick up a 7kd 16v used add more batteries and efficiency isn't an issue and in return you'll get over 5k for music. There are a lot of people that are playing them daily with no issues.

depends on what model you get, have you been reading?... do a search you will find everything you want to know, to sum it up quickly 12v will do 6kw+ from 10v up, but only accept mid 13 volts before it goes in protect, 16v version is best one imo for daily cause it can take more voltage up and down from 12-16v, i heard its a good daily amp, sounds good plays good

that stetsom was the first gen design, the new 12 and 16v ones are single board, the old one was basically 2 2k6d s, ive seen plenty of the old ones still alive today that were getting burped at .25 ohm and daily smashed on,those idiots on there cant just look at an amps output section and determine what it can handle from a pictutre...a real tech knows there are different sized fets rated for more voltage and current, cant just detrermine because there are the same amount of chips...wtf... ,the new design should yield 1200 more watts thats what alan s been telling me, and more efficient
