We had the opportunity to test the new Fusion 4000 Watt amplifier. We installed the amp and others in Kara’s extreme 2 van. I must admit I was skeptical at first but this amp really impressed me. We tested and recorded SPL in this order:
The MTX amps - SPL of 165.4dB The American Bass amps - SPL of 167.0 dB The Fusion amp at 1.2ohms DCR - SPL of 163.9 dB The Fusion amp at 0.6 ohms DCR - SPL of 166.0 dB The Fusion amp at 0.3 ohms DCR - SPL of 167.5 dB
So- The 1 Fusion amp is a 2.1 dB gain over 2 MTX 1501’s The 1 Fusion amp is a 0.5 dB gain over 2 American Bass 150.1’s
As you can see, the Fusion amp really likes the lower loads! It gained 2.1 dB from 1.2 to 0.6 ohms and 1.5 dB from 0.6 ohms to 0.3 ohms.
Now- The measured output at 0.6 ohms DCR: 99 VAC – 69 Amps 1.4 ohms w/ box rise 6831 watts
The measured output at 0.3 ohms DCR: 90 VAC – 89.6 Amps 1.0 ohms w/ box rise 8064 watts
I was unable to measure the input current required. This was at 17.5 VDC. Measurements were taken with true rms multimeter and clamp meter.
VERY IMPRESSIVE!

I think Mike Rohrbach has some numbers of this amp at 12VDC in street applications. I know it beat the Earthquake D5000 by 0.5 dB in our testing.

he he no, Jarfunkz, Kara and I, and the van are officially retired. The van is for sale (actually I am pretty sure it is already sold). We accomplished all of our goals last year (3 World Championships), so we thought it was a good time to retire. This choice removes a large financial burden (the van, lol) from us. Now, if we were to appear this year with a MANUFACTURER OWNED & BACKED vehicle, that'd be sweet Guess everyone will have to pay attention to what vehicle we hang out near this season - there is a LARGE project very near launch! quit calling them surfboards! they're only like 40 inches long! LOL! john, you sure about the retirement thing? i thought you were thinking about showing them what the van will do with 4 of these? ooopppsss...back in the bag kitty! LOL! i have done a bit of 12 volt testing with these, so if any one wants any of that info let me know. i will say the only test that i havent done is one of these vs. a colossus. but, that is scheduled to happen soon! i believe it can either meet or beat one though! to all of you who made fun of me for running this stuff, you should see what they got now. there are other "things" about these that we didnt reveal, and they are good things...

Hey John, Kara, and Mike, its going to be fun this year being part of the team, I told Mike the other night I may even get a new vehicle so i can get alot louder If you hear any more news keep me updated. Thanks.

Well Mike, my 2 A-bahn 18001DT's put out a whopping 2528 watts strapped @14.4v . They were free but it sure don't make them any louder.................... Give me a call Monday and I'll let you know how I did at SBN.

I could have told you that But it didn't sound like you wanted to here it. My JBL BP1200.1 was a few tenths louder than my 1800D.

Jon is waiting on eight for his 163.4 SS 3-4 car, it's using 8 Ellipselon 2kW amps now.

Phil this is the exact same amp that sent a dc voltage to the Team ShonKy's H/u, it survived though and the amp did not.(at x-torque dbdrag 2 weeks ago) They are a seriously powerful amp and really dont start making serious power till about .5ohm... A shame we were burping at .9
