Steve, do you have the Voltage and Current output from the amp, I'd like to know what real impedence it was seeing. I also have a couple questions for you but I'll PM you or give you a call at the shop in the next few days. I'm guessing these are the amps Scott Owens told me about at finals. Nice to see Pioneer came through.

am I seeing this right? does the amp have single 4 gauge power and ground input? i think someone is pulling our leg

Finally Pioneer makes a big amp! How's the power consumption of this thing at full power and idle? If this thing gets cheap I might buy a couple for my caddy

well if it was tested at 16v. this test really benifits the SS and EX competitors. I would like to see what this amp could do in a street setup.

Very impressive amp.. we have wait long time to see pioneer coming into the real world of amplifier.
But something is curious...: But.. it's PWM regulated power supply amplifier.. so what about the test to 16 volts .. 11 or 16V should give same result or near that ..noh?
11V = more current draw 16V = less current draw but same power as 11V Pulse width of power supply oscillator are modulated to compensate voltage loose...
I am wrong? Doc

They say: Independent Rail-Regulating Power Supply (IRRP) The internal construction also contributes to the units' superior performance. With conventional amplifiers, only the positive rail is truly regulated, causing the negative rail to become unstable during high power demand. The Premier SPL amplifiers feature an independent rail-regulating power supply (IRRP) which takes the positive and negative rail voltages and separately regulates them. This results in unsurpassed reliability and performance.
now.. i say again it's regulated power supply.. And GOOD for Street competitors!

x2 on wanting to know what it'll do at 14.4v or less 3kw RMS is mighty impressive though Posts: 540 | From: Canada | Registered: Oct 2003

Not really, What most people don't understand is that just because it's regulated does not mean it will do the same at 11 volts as it will do at 14+ volts. 1/2 the amps on the market are regulated but what they won't tell you is that the cut off is at 12.5 or 13 volts witch makes it useless for most street guys, so the question is were are the cut offs ? because after the cut off the power will drop like a rock !

Same reason Memphis doesn't rate the Mojo lower than 2ohms, or Orion rating the 2500D at 1ohm.
Because people who didn't know how to properly run it at 0.5ohm would be trying it and Pioneer would get stuck honouring the warrranty.
I can see it now, this amp in a stock Toyota Tercel with an 8g power wire to it and a half ohm load. Bottom line is that engineers need to be a bit generous on specs no matter what they are making.

So they look to be pretty sick at 16V but what do they do at 12v vs. the american bass 200.1.
