Hey people, what's bassin? Anyways... I got a few questions I would like to get everyone's ideas on, even the man Wayne! : )
So far, I have purchased a RF 8130 SOurce Unit, a PA2 eq, a Punch 225.2, Punch 60.2 and a Punch 55.2.
I need to know what speakers to go with... subs, front stage (NEED 5 1/4 components) and rear fill (6*9 coaxial).
I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring. I was thinking about a few ideas, let me knoe how this would sound or what. Get two sets of the SOUNDSTREAM EXACT components for the front, in stock locaiton and kick panels. and their 2 ohn speakers for rear. Or what do you all think of Rockford Speakers? How about Polk or MB QUart?
Well, whatever you all want to tell me, I am free to listen, but what I have alread, I ain't changing cause FOSGATE RULES....
Anyways, concerning subs... someone told me to go all out and get 4 12W3(2 ohms) I could wire them in pairs to 2 ohm and run my amp at 2 ohm stereo... that is what a dealer said, is that sound resonable? Would the amp be able to pwer these effectively (THE PUNCH 225.2?)I was going to put them in two separate isobarick enclosures....
I am open to ideas, so let me know!
HEY, did RF ever make their 6 in dash cd player, that thing looked kickin!

My current favorite components are the Fanatic Q's by RF. I'm not a fan of 6x9's so I would consider a 6.5 tweet combo for the rear. The others need to be listened to, I've heard good things from people running SS sererates but I don't like the quarts. Their not bad, just not to my taste. I don't like isobarik enclosures myself. I'd stick with sealed or ported. That amp is a little on the lean side for 4 12W3's Don't get me wrong, it'll hit but you be a bit underpowered. RF didn't make the indash 6. In fact they have changed their lineup entirely since your 8130 and my 8120. JMO's

I know it would be slightly underpowered, but each sub would receive at least 125 watts... isn't that good? I mean, I use to run 3 W6 with a punch 60, and that hit hard as hell. I am just wondering would I get the same sound out of a ported box? I mean, let me know... about the rear?> DO they sell mounting brackets to put a compenent set such as 6 1/2 instead of 6*9's?

Make your own plate out of wood - it's easy. I would go with a single pair of woofs to keep the system easy. Going Isobaric will save box size, but do nothing to increase output over just two.

A friend and I were doing his 98 Sebring convertible and we just used masonite cutouts to mount his sets in the 6x9 locations. To continue Dukks thought we had done a a 6 10's box in the shape of a pentagon and man did it look trick. But that box didn't hit half as hard a a simple pair of 15's. Oh well. As far as underpowering, it's not to be worried about to much if you can keep it out of clipping. I'm the king of underpowered. hehe I need 4k watts

You'd probly be all right with 2 dual 4 ohm 12w3s, then they'd also have a far safer level of power. Should be like 300+ each. Take up a lot less space.
