I know that you should upgrade the power wire running from the battery to the alternator
when running a high-power system.

Right now, the stock power wire running from my batt. to the alt. is all bundled up with
the several other power wires running through the engine compartment, and they are all
connected to a big circular battery terminal that screws into the side-mount terminal on
my GM factory battery. I want to just ADD another power wire, probably 4-gauge, and
wanted to know if it would be OK to have 2 power wires connected to the battery??

If i can avoid it at ALL cost, i DON'T want to have to remove the factory power wire. And
i DON'T want to cut the factory battery terminal either. Basically, i want it to be able to go back to completely stock, if and when i sell the car later down the road.

SO, would it be safe to have 2 power wires going to the alt.??? I wouldn't be ruining the alternator or battery, would I ??

Thanks for your input.

Some cars have the charge lead fused, but most GMs do not. If not, it would be perfectly ok to do what you desribe as long as care is taken in the routing and termination of that wire.
