He was running 200x2 and 400x4's, I think two of the first and one of the latter.

It was 4 8" Punch series, Bandpass enclosure. I CAN dig up the article, it will take me a while, or if you havy any other specific questions, shoot:

Do the 8s - you'll love them.
I've found the best performance at .75-1 cuft tuned to 35-40Hz.

Speaking of 8s, anyone seen PlymouthBass recently???

The car you are talking about is a Honda Prelude. It's in the '97 CA&E Buyers Guide. It has 4 Punch 8" in a bandpass box, 1 RF 400x4 and 2 RF 200x2s

Why sealed?? Unless you only have 2 cuft total, you will get WAY more vented with those babies.....
I know from experience that that woofer kicks butt vented.

well dukk
sealed because
1) limited space.. yeah yeah im one of the ones that wants woofs and trunk space... lol
now.... another one, if any of you know what the rear of an escort looks like... im gonna do my 4 eigts straight across, firing to the back, about 10 inches deep or so... what would you reccomend for an amp rack... again, consider i want simple simple install and space saver.. i cant stress simple and clean enough... i saw one in a mag one time that was great.... looked really simple, but it was clean, functional, and sounded good they said... i want to do a punch 800a2.. with possibility of a 200a4 down the line... so expansion is a possibility... so account for that
thank you guys sooooo much
im a complete novice as far as install goes
i can sell with anyone.. but im an instal reject

Make your box 2.5" deeper than necessary and fasten the 'back' wall (against the seat) recessed that 2.5" into the box. Make a new 'back' wall out of 1/4" with a hole the shape of the amp and you have a simple amp rack right on the box. New 1/4" pieces allow any possibilities.

4 8s sealed should be in 2 cuft. 4 8s vented take up 3 cuft. I think it's worth the difference!!

okay...... another thought/question
and dont think im not grateful.. :-)
cause i sure am
but... im going to put some 6.5 inch components up front, and in the back, i have 2 5x7s over my shock towers.... im thinking of making a baffle board and mounting some 5 and a quarter or 6.5 mid bass drivers on them for nice rear fill and ambiance.. thoughts on that one.... or should i stick a coax back there??

*Nod* Keep the co-axials back there. You could go with the same brand as the comps up front, but I'd run the co-axial in a car. You might even be able to get away with just a mid-range/mid-bass without a tweeter, if you just want that range of sound. For 5x7s I'd go with Infinity Reference & Kappa and Boston Accoustic. 5.25s & 6.5s, you can find an ample supply of kick-butt co-axials

Good luck
