Looking for opinions before I buy. I am looking to get two 15's and comparable 500 or so watt amps. I have narrowed down to three brands. Rockford Fosgate POWER DVCs, JLs, or Pheonix Gold xMax woofers. I am probably going to go with Pheonix Gold XS2500s for the amps, and am leaning towards the xMaxs for the subs. Any opinions or suggestions on my decisions would be greatly appreciated.

Any of those three will leave you satisfied with your bass response provided you put them in a good enclosure and assuming that your amplifiers deliver all 500 watts to each driver.

A few more to consider could be

Three JL 10w6 or 12w6, three Eclipse 8812 or 8810, two DD Audio subs, two MMats Juggernaut subs...

Are you going for a raw SPL number, sound Q, a good system, or have a specific setup in mind?

IMO them power DVC are alittle to power hungry. I would go for the Punch DVC if you cant afford a huge amp. And about PG Xmax subs I only have 2 10's and they pound hard for some tens.
Also something to look at is prices, I think Punch DVC a a bit cheaper and you get the same preformance.
You wont be dissappointed with ethier speaker if you do a good install.

Blasted msg board didnt post my edited msg.
Xmax 15-500 watts
Punch DVC-500/1000
POwer DVC-1000/2000 "yikes"
the xs2500 is only 500 bridges
you could run the xmax's off of it maybe
but if you really want some power bass
get the xmax 15 and a 800a2 amp
Punch Dvc and a 1000a2
Power DVC and 2 1000a2

If someone wants to conferm this please do, but I think the Power DVC are out your range unless you have a hella big budget. the 2 1000a2's along cost alot then you would have to get "or what I would get" 2 extra batteries, few stiffing caps, new high output altenator. And alot of trunk room

Right now I am running four XMAX tens, in a sealed enclosure. They drop as low as a sub can go, have literally no distortion a high volumes, and I can still pull a 143.2 out a trunk with them. They may be a sound Q sub, but there is alot of spl in these subs too. I have used DVC's and power DVC's, but they require nore airspace and are not as clean. XMAX produces it all.

X-Max subs are great. I think that you would be better off avoiding the power DVCs with the power you want. And don't forget JLs they are nothing to sneeze at.

Well this is just a comment on the xmax 10's. There is a compedator here name Debbie Verdian (spelling?). She was 1995 points champ. I am not sure if that was for USAC or IASCA but eiter way...She has 2 of the xmax 10s in her new install. This is in a Acura Interga. She has them in a sealed box firing into the car through the part where the rear seat folds down. I am sorry I know she has PhGold amps. I dont remember what ones. All I remember is that they are the Black ones with the plexi glass in the middle. But she is getting a strong 138 and may have touched 139dB to flash dance in USAC SQ. She said she personally prefers the sound of others to the Xmax but was happy enough with them.

If you want more info on what she has I can get it. Just let me know.

Two 1100a2's would be a ridiculous amount of power for 2 Power DVC's, much less one.

I personally don't see much advantage of the power DVC over the Punch DVC except that it'll be a little harder to blow. (On punch DVC's, i'm up to 4 blown and counting )

Xmax are nice subs, however I prefer the DVC simply because you can port it. They're very nice, and at about 200 250 watts each, it'd sound very nice.

And loud too

I would go with 2 Eclipse 8810.6, I seen 2 in a trunk hit 132db with a meager 270w rms shared between the two... Considering they handle 500rms and 1000max... The enclosure was a sealed box with a Qtc of 0.9, and a bitchin' flat response... The box was even designed with for SQ... Not to shabby...

Yup, termpro designed the box for SQ... Two 8810.6 running off the third channel of a Xtant amp (not sure of model#)... Like I said, respectable... And the subs were FAR from their 3" of Peak-Peak excursion... These subs also like tiny enclosures, 2.27cu/ft for 3 12"s with a Q of 0.9 and a seriously flat response...

Thanks everyone, but I have decided what to go with and the installation is in progress. Seeing as Fosgate seems to be very popular, and also very good, as well as JL being of similar use and quality, are reasons I did not choose them. I want to go with quality, capability, and uniqueness. Pheonix Gold is definitely quality, they are very capable, and 15 carbon fiber woofers are very unique!! So, XmaX it is!!! Thanks again, but feel free to keep your ideas rolling. This forum may help someone else down the road as well. See some of you around the great lakes area.

Hey there Audiophyle...Ya Debbie had changed her set up in the last few months. She does have her ID horns in there and I forget what mids and tweets. She has 3 PhGold amps and 2 xmax 10's. I have seen her at a few shows and had a part in judging her car at 2 or 3 of them I forget. As she said it is a work in progress. If ya want I will probably see her as the show this sunday. I can get some pics if you like...Let me know..
