I was thinking of getting an MTX 81000D for my system. I have a 15" shocker extreme dual 1 ohm and i have it wired in a series for 2 ohms and am currently running a lanzar 1200d(money was tight)... I was wondering if the MTX will do better than the Lanzar? And will it be an audible difference? Thanks, jsm_42

Well, since your running your lanzar at 2 ohms it isn't putting out its full potential (750 watts @ 14.4 volts); whereas, the 8100d will be running where it is supposed to be and will give you ~2x as much power. If you have the money, go for the swap.

1) What Audible difference will there be? That all depends on how perceptive your hearing is. For the human ear to detect a noticeable "difference"....you will need to get at least a 3db increase in overall SPL. For that to be an issue, you will have to at LEAST double power going to your woofers. While going with the MTX 81000D will indeed give your woofers more power, its up in the air as far as how much of a "difference" it will make.
2) No, the MTX 81000D does not have a subsonic filter.

I have another question for you guys... I have an abc box tuned to 35hz and 40hz... If I go with the 81000D, will I need to buy a subsonic filter? Or am I tuned low enough not to have one

Well, it all depends on the type of music you listen to. Generally boxes tuned in the 35-40hz range aren't as easily damaged. However, if you listen to alot of rap music, or sometimes even heavy metal, then you will have some passages during songs that will play below 40hz sometimes as low as 20-25hz. Extended play below the tuning frequency will damage the woofer overtime. But, the choice is up to you. If you want to be on the safe side, get a Xover with a subsonic filter, if you want to take a chance, try it without one. Hope this helps.
