Is it better to run your amps ground to a Battery or to a chassis ground?
This is assuming you have a battery for each amp and they are close to the amps.

both. If not both, than the battery. The whole idea is to complete the circuit with as little resistance as possible. poss. from batt to amp, amp to neg. on batt, = complete circuit without having to travel through high resistance chasis.

so if i have a pickup, and im mounting my amps in the cab, which is about 6-7 feet from the battery, isnt that a little too long for a good ground?

Well, your possitive power has to run just as long, dosn't it?

Amp mfg's recommend keeping the GROUND as short as possible. ??
I dont know the theory behind this other than the resistance, but I think it relates to something else too.

Yah, like Honda said, ground close to the amps and run a ground wire to your battery. Use the same guage wire that your power run is. Make sure all ground and power connections are free of corrosion, paint, are clean, and solid.
