hi. i'm adding a sub + amp to my system, and for my setup my stereo guy recommended:

10'' kicker solo baric l7 (square) and a 500w memphis amp.

i dont listen to alot of hip hop -- i'm more into bands like tool, so i want CLEAR, ACCURATE bass rather than BOOM BOOM BOOM.

of everyone i've asked about the square kicker's, half the people say they love them, and the other half hate them.

what do you think of them? what else should i consider? people seem to like IDQ's, but i've never heard them, and don't know anywhere where i could.

the guy said he'd get me the amp, sub, enclosure, and install it for $500, so that's my price range

my current setup is:
pioneer deh-p7200 head unit
infinity kappa 62.1 (front)
polk ex572a (rear)
...powered by PPI450 100Wx4 amp.

thanks!

for $500 installed thats an awesome deal...i would go for it....I've never heard the L7 in person but if i didnt have my tempest i would by looking into one.

if its a legit deal for $500 go for it, but i would be worried about being ripped off that seems almost too good to be true

You will be happy with the set up. Why not get a 12 though. You would be just as happy with the sq and punch of it and it would be louder if you ever decide to compete. I don't personally like the 15L7 but the 12 and the 10 are very nice. And yes I have heard all of them. This is just what I would do, I hope you like it.

I always thought that circular were the best for SQ? Cause I know everyone says not to use 5x7s or 6x9s for componets so i figured the same would apply to subs???
