seems like a lot of people favor the JBL mono amps. Are they really that good for the money? I mean I'm using a 360a2 with 539 watts on the birthsheet and have no problem pushing almost any subs so far. I've used it to power 3 10w6, pair of audiobahn aw1200, and a pair of 12 HE's. Well I know that a little more power in to the audiobahn would sound better. My point is will JBL live up to it's claim? does it really push 600 clean watts? I mean for about 300 bucks for a jbl 1000.1 and it really does 1000 watts I think I gotta get me a new sub amp.

The 1200.1 was tested by Car Stereo Review to do 1378 watts at one or 2 ohm. I have a few of them at 1 ohm for over a year, daily driving AND competition use...with no failure or overheating. They draw some current though, but they are really great amps.

i know for a fact the 600.1 will do more than rated at .5ohm. had a friend that ran his that way for 1 month straight and no problems. the buzz has a 1200.1 and he loves it. the amps will put out what the claim to and probably a lil more. but at .5 it does a nice chunk.

u can find the 600.1's for under 200 on ebay and the 1200.1 for around 300 on ebay. but they are a good amp.

thanks for the replies. I see people recommending the 1200.1 on a JL W7 and I'm like wtf? JBL on a such great subs? I understand why now. I've always thought you get what you pay for. The price of the JBL for the power it's giving is unbelievable.

.5 ohm?

Hmm, I never tried that with any of mine, of course, with dual 2 ohm sub, it is'nt going to happen.

It impresses me that it survived like that.

when mine was running at 1ohm (D2 sub) compared to normal D1 @ 2ohm , it clipped a little bit easier in my opinion....

it was weird, but there def . was a lil more power going to the sub

is it safe to run the amp at 1 ohm in an everyday car? I don't just listen to my music. I have a tendency to blast it everytime I step into my car. I'm planning on running a pair of 800 watts RMS subs (audiobahn, alpha sound) one of those two. BUt from the site the amp only give out 600 watts at 4 ohms. and if I get a pair of any of the subs mention they only come in dual 4 ohms aw1200x, same with the alpha sound. So it's either 4 ohms or 1 ohm config. Any suggestion?

All mine are run at 1 ohm, and have been since I got them a year or so ago.

So, yes, 1 ohm is very safe for those amps.
