i'm looking to power 2 kicker L712's with atleast 500 watts a piece (mostly daily driving). i came across the Autotek super sport series amps. the autotek website lists the ss500.2 as producing 500 watts into 4 ohms with 48 amps of current draw; they also list the step-up model, the SX2200 as producing 500 watts into 2 ohms with 26 amps of current draw. my question is...are these current numbers accurate? i only have 80 amps to work with. Is the SX2200 current rating coming from a 4 ohm load or a 2 ohm load? if anyone has any experience with these amps, lemme know what u think about them. thanks

Looking for a good amp to power them, look at the new Kicker line(throw this in) KX1200.1, or JBL 1200.1 or DEI amps, any of those will work fine.

Well I have 2 SS500.2s running 2 JL W-3 DVC....each amp bridged at a 4 ohm load to each sub. They really do the trick. I would recommend you really buy 2 for those L7s...and the 500 RMS is at a mono 4 ohm load...unfortunately they are not stable at 2 ohm mono...only 2 ohm stereo. However, I must admit these amps are clean, look great, and are very efficient. I compete with those...and have never had a problem. Always stay very cool and have never gone into protective mode. Hope that helps in the search.

The Autotek SX2200 is one of the most popular amps that we sell. We drive them at 2 ohms mono all the time and haven't had one cut out yet. They don't draw all that much power at 2 ohm. I would get one for each L7, they would definitly do it. Also look into the SX1700, it's 1200 x 1 @ 1ohm, I have one in my car pushing a pair of Treo Street 12.44 and it makes them pound.
