okay..... i got in a fight with my supervisor today about power rating on punch amps.... the spec sheet says... and i quote "all channels driven into FULL power at 2 ohms" on a punch 800a2 now, i say this means that is what the amp produces... NOT peak power, but HE says this is total peak power, and maxxed out totally.... and that you will ONLY get 800 watts out of the amp bridged... he refuses to think he might be wrong.. hes an ass when it comes to this stuff... he friggin called fosgate to check on it even if ANYONE has checked the amps out... i mean, what does it put out bridged, actually?? tech.... wayne?? anyone have any input he also refused to admit the amp will put out ANY more than 800 watts bridged i cant believe that for a second...i KNOW they put out more than theyre rated but is the birht certificate right on the money.... or is it max power total?? thanks folks Ry

I've never known RF to use peak power as a measurement. The birth certificate should read WRMS which is a far more accurate measurement than peak. And yes, you can get more power out of a 800a2 but that varies from amp to amp. I think dukk mentioned one he had with a little over 1kw out of it. Sorry if I'm wrong dukk. RF used to serverely underrate their amps but have come up closer to the actual output in their ratings. Double rated power used to be the case. now it's between 10 to 40 % usually.

Tech, that was my amp, and like I just posted in another thread, I have personally tested 1400 watts from my 800A2 at a 2 ohm load bridged... RDAEX if you wan to demonstrate how much of an idiot your super is then hook up a DMM to your sub of choice, slam some heavy bass music to it and watch the meter... Take the max AC voltage squared and divide it by the DC resistance of the sub or pair of subs... There is your watts of output... Nuf said...

hah knew i was right so tech, i do assume you have tested the amps out.... seeing as how youve tested about everything under the sun..... lol what did you get out of them rf amps.... doesnt have to be an 800, just curious.... and you know, even fosgate tols him that was max ratings, i dont know why..i had him ask tech support if the amp would put out more than 800 bridged, and they said no......... wtf?!?!

In that case I have no idea what RF is up to. I haven't test the latest models yet. Been way to D--- busy. Oh well. First thing I noticed is board were going into amps with higher power ratings. 500.2 into 1100a2 and down the list. Dukk ,I think, can quote all the models this happened on. Johnwayne, your power test technique is just a course one since you don't take active impedance into consideration. But for a quick determination it works

Your right he`s a dumbass, I`ve worked with Fosgate products for a couple of years now and I have yet to see a Fosgate amp put out exacly what it says it will they put out way more power than they are rated for, trust me. The best example I`ve got is the 225.2 on the birth sheet on my amp the 225.2 put out 775Watts all channels driven at 4-ohms. They call them Punch`s for a reason, they pack a Punch!
