I was curious if anyone was familiar enough with Alpine products that they could answer my question. I have an Alpine ERE-G180 EQ and a Phoenix Gold PLD1 line driver. I am wondering if anyone knows if my PLD1 can be placed BEFORE the EQ and still have a high voltage coming out the other side of the EQ? Alpine rates the voltage in/out on their website as 4volts. I do not want to have to buy another PLD1 unless I have to. Anyone?

since the alpine peice has their input/output rated a 4 volts and your line driver puts out 8 then you must put after the EQ, since the most it can put out is 4 volts then putting the line driver before the eq will be wasting half of the line drivers potential.

anybody else in maryland? i have no car audio buddies here... :(

If the voltage out of the line driver is the same as the voltage out of the last piece in the chain before the amplifiers, it wont matter. In other words, if your alpine piece is just upstream of the amps, AND it's output matches the output of the PLD, then dump the PLD and just run the alpine (it appearantly has a line driver built in). However, if the output voltage of the line driver is higher than the alpine, then insert the line drive downstream of the alpine. Make sense?

Ron -- there is no doubt that the PLD1 line driver has a higher output voltage than the EQ does. However, I thought if I could put the line driver before the EQ then possibly (??) all of the outputs on the EQ could be run at the line driver voltage as opposed to the EQ voltage. I am sure you know what I mean but I just think that the EQ will lower the voltage because it cannot handle the PLD1 voltage.
