Well I know alot of you are waiting to see a test done with the MX-3 so here it is.
Well lets start with the input voltage, 4 volt in seemed to be the best this puppy loved, I am sure it was made for most 2 volt decks out there so this will definately cover your input concerns with the adjustable input voltage.
Next lets look at the output voltage. Now I found it best to set the input with the output at 9 volt. I was able to see what my potential was on the output side with any given input and having it set to 9 volt was easy to see where the most efficent input voltage was for the cleanest signal. The output voltage acted like sorta like a gate when adjusted, it put a ceiling on my output like its supposed to do. I was happy with the clean 9v output and 11 volt output with soft clip.
The subsonic and crossovers are also the first of their kind to ever meet on the same processor in this price range at 24dB per octave also. You can't live without these two features especially if your doing bass race or Psyclone or any other format where you need to zone in on your favorite note and boost it above the rest of the bass spectrum. For example: If your note was 43 hz and you use Lil John "Push that" for a song you could set the MX-3 to bandpass that note and with the dial you could boost that note very effectively and conserve power by lowering the other frequencies you don't need to compete with temporarily saving your power you would have otherwise sent to your woofers to play for no help to your scores. For daily ground pounding you could dial it in for that drop down note that makes the hair tricks fly. With a simple twist of the dial the perfect bass you choose is boosted.
Now on to the things I would like to see changed. -Those clip lights should be separated and there needs to be a light for each coresponding signal condition beside it. Having the light alter color is tough to guage hard clip without a scope, not everyone has a scope. So a clear indication of hard clip would be nice. -The Subsonic needs to go up 50hz to offer a tighter control of those lows for people tuned a bit higher that do play daily and also compete. -The unit would be nice offered in white and black but not neccesary really, thats just a personal preferance of mine.
Other than that this MX-3 is a fine piece of work.
I say if your a ground pounder, competitor or just want to control the signal for all of your bass amps with one unit, this is your box. It don't matter what CD player you got it will handle .2v-9v input and allow you to maximize the highest possible clean signal for your amps
Here is a graph of the voltage test.
