ANyone else running this one, or heard of it, etc? I can get one for $100 used, but not a scratch on it. Just looking for opinions or whatever. Thanks everyone.

The OEQ1 is an old piece. I have 2 that i bought around 1990. The only problem with them is the line voltage. They can only accept and put out around 500mv. Not very good by todays standards. There is a mod that can be done to raise the output voltage to 2v. This still is not all that great for a midstream component, but it's better than 500mv. HTH Ed

I'm not sure if I quite understand about the line voltage stuff you are talking about. Could you explain that a little more please? I am a beginner to this stuff. Do you think it is a good buy for $100? Thank you for all your help.

A while back Dukk said that having one of these would have let him EQ out a certain harmonic spike in one of his installs, and said it was pretty useful. Hopefully he'll amble on in here and shed some light on the topic.

The line voltage refers to the amount of signal the piece will accept before clipping. If you have a 4v head unit, pretty common these days, and try to use the OEQ1 you will most likely have clipping problems. The OEQ1 can only accept 500mv (1/2 v) of input. If you do the mod on it it will accept a solid 2v. That is a big improvement but still can cause problems. Other than that it is a good piece. Thats why when Rockford made the OEQ2 they made sure this was not a problem -- 9 volts input/output. HTH Ed

The line voltage should not be a problem on a 'street' stereo.

The OEQ1 is a nice piece but $100 is a little high unless it is a chrome one. EBAY moves 5-6 a month on there for around $50 a piece.

I don't know, trying to shove 4 volts of output into a 1/2v input is like tring to pour a gallon of milk into a shot glass, it's going to be messy. I only say this from experience. When I bought my C910 in 95' I still had the un modded OEQ1's hooked up. There was a NOTICABLE loss in signal quality and quantity with them inline. The defeat switch on the OEQ's made this an easy comparison. After the mod it helped, but there was still some signal loss. This is of course only when the C910's volume was cranked up.
