All of the Epicenters are designed around 1 principle and that is bass restoration. This means if you have an old Earth Wind an Fire CD OR MP3 that does not have alot of bass programmed into it or that is compressed it uses that information and allows you to bring it out more. I used one in an old school system I did back in 98 that didn't really give me more bump on NEWER CDS but did fin' wonders on older tracks like Pink Floyd "Welcome To The Machine" If that is what you want to do I would say go for it. If not find another upgrade like maybe one of Audiocontrols set it and forget it EQ'S

I don't know how to explain the epicenter other than that. But Audiocontrol makes a bunch of eqs that can really clean up your sound and take you to the next level. The first one I had in 98 was the Audiocontrol 3.1 in dash eq. This had three features that helped me out dramatically. First a line driver. This allowed me amplify the signal (voltage)to my amplifiers input thus allowing me to be able to turn my amp gain down and get more clean volume. Next there is a built in X-OVER for ypur subs. Additionally there are 3 bands of eq adjustment. Last but definately not least there is is a sub volume output. I believe new you can find the for under 300- used 150 Definately way worth the money.

There are tons of epicenters from different manufacturers.
I remember when this person who hit 152 on the old mics(this one was about 6-7 more than normal) he said it was due to his epicenter adding octaves. As usual, I just smiled, nodded, and let him keep telling others that. Needless to say I didn't like the kid, worst thing I can do is let him keep making himself to look like a moron.
Good piece to have, I like them, don't really need them these days with all the power and better woofers that are being made. Seriously, the woofer industry had 10X in the last 10 years.
