other than one being a 3 way crossover and one being a 2 way crossover whats the difference between the two? Does one have better sound quality abilities?

would you say itd be worth the money for the dxs? Also how much of a difference does a crossover make in an active system opposed to just setting the gains properly on both amplifiers for highs and mids.

The difference in those two pieces is the first one is a basic 2 way crossover. If you want to change frequencies on the crossover you have to build a new chip. major PITA.

the second one is all digital and contains a 30 band EQ. If you want to change crossover frequencies on it, you hit a button. You also have a 30 band EQ to tune the system with.

On a crossover I look for the most flexible piece I can find. I want continuously variable crossover points, adjustable slopes, adjustable phase control (at least 0-180 for each speaker), bandpass filters for every speaker, and level control of each speaker at a minimum.

Of the two, the DQX is by far the better choice. In the grand scheme of things, I would likely look elsewhere depending on what your system consist of.
