I'm trying to set up my maxxlink and so far I'm NOT likeing them.
Ok...I took amp reading's(voltage only sub's unhooked) BEFORE installing maxlink.
After 2 hour's of trying to make this thing work I'm lost.
Tested HU on a O-scope(for voltage before clip) 4.8 volt's digatil singal....5.1 volt's AC pulse genator setting.
Set Maxxlink to 4.5 volt's input.....set maxxlink to 4.5 output....tested amp and LOST 56 volt's. I have played with EVERY setting and the only way to get ANY kind of output is setting the Maxxlink to a hair before .2 volt's input...output has little effect. NOW in this setting the amp's do have power out....but 3 volt's down from WITH OUT maxxlink. ALSO to HARD CLIPP number's are WAY down like 12.5 volt's.
NOW with the maxxlink set like this I tested out put from maxxlink.........with link's output voltage set to 9 volt's(green light on link...but not remote, strange) my scope show's 9.11 volt's with no clipping......how ever when checking off amp I'm still have lower voltage. I have also tryed EVERY setting on amp. AND yes the amp's ARE rated for 9 volt input...colossus XXV.
WHAT IS UP WITH THIS....I have less amp power out....and the amp's clipping led's go from nothing to HARD with 1 volume click.....I should be able to go 1 stage at a time....I can with out the maxxlink.

Have you actually put the subs back on the amp and actually tested the spl output?
Or are you strictly going on AC voltage coming out of the amplifier unloaded?
Because the way I read it you're just testing AC Voltage out of an unloaded amp....maybe your AC Amperage went up from before the maxxlink?
The numbers and measurements you are taking are all good things to get in the habbit of....but without real world spl tests to compare it with, its kind of useless.

11. The steps outlined in #8 may have to be repeated if you cannot get full power out of the amplifiers, in which case, start off with their input gain controls set for higher gain. ((trun all the amps up)) mine are not at 12o’clock

Pete, you have a dual mono block and you aren't linking. Please review my email. Email or call me direct for technical assistance. If you are currently connecting both + and - from channel A to amp one then you are creating cancellation and will have little to no output. Next time you have a technical question, PLEASE contact me directly ASAP so that I can help you. I am not always on the forums.

Thank's for the help Mike.....I'll let you know what happen's.

Testing the amps voltage unloaded is a waste of time! the only numbers that matter are actual, and with a load is an actual number. Test with everything hooked up and you will gain knowledge. Test your batterys voltage, the ac voltage out of the amp ect.

I am probley louder than I should be to start with. I have VERY unstable battery voltage, failed ohio gen and weak sub's......I would rather NOT do any testing that I don't need to. Beside's,when your looking for matching gain's why would you want the sub's hooked up....would YOU play your system with door's open at full tilt for serveral minute's at a time....I wouldn't and CAN'T.
My issue was resolved with a new maxxlink. I guess every company has a bad one every now and then. I have gotten used to this, seem's like EVERY time I order something it has a problem the first time.....I have even gotten rca cable's DOA, I have just gotten used to this fact...I HAVE THE WORST LUCK ON THE PLANET...LOL...or somethime it sure seem's like it.

I bought one of these units and got it installed today
I gained 0.3 dB so far... took me about 15 burps to get all the settings exactly dialed in optimally and to figure out what volume level to use on the HU for maximum output.
If I took the HU volume too high I lost SPL. If I raised the output voltage on the MaxxLink too much I lost SPL. I also found that by backing the INPUT setting down to less than what I actually measured with my DMM that I gained SPL
Neat little unit... I think my final gain may exceed 0.3 dB once I try it again totally cooled down.
Props to MaxxSonics for a sweet new device.

Well, cooling down didn't gain me anything. Still the same score, very consistent right where it was. Laying down a single piece of aluminum tape about 6" long gained me another 0.1 dB though *laughs*
Another half roll later sealed up other tiny holes and whatnot... no more gains! Ah, the joys of SPL.

^^ Be sure to set your frequency to your burp volume on the Parametric as that will affect your score whether you use the boost or not. In order to do this: 1) set your multi meter to Volts AC 2) connect the the positive and negative meter leads to the positive and negative speaker outputs on one amplifier 3) set your CD to your burp frequency 4) set your volume to a approximately 130dB 5) play the track on repeat as you adjust the frequency on the Maxxlink while dialing it in to the point that you read the highest Voltage AC output
This may help you out a bit, especially if you choose to boost at that frequency.

thanks ill try it, but im not sure i understand, but i think i am already doing that. like i said i still have to play with it all i did is hook it up and burp.
