Out with the old....soon to be on the chopping block [Wink] That and the DDC controller...im planning on using a second 360.2 in the Tahoe for the ultimate in control [Wink] Right now i have it set up as a 4 way active system.

Here is the interface of it. Dont mind my settings i was just playing with it gettin used to it when i took the pics. After throwing it on the RTA it all changed.

Well, with the Alpine you get 4 way XOs right out of the box, TA in fine steps, dual 31 band and a 14 band EQ for the sub/center channel outputs, crossover slopes adjustable between 6-30 dB slopes, digital inputs, can control without a laptop/PDA, and the whole prologic crap thing.

I was really hoping that the 360 would have had digital inputs and a 4 way XO section...

Reguardless, both are very fine processors...and have more than enough stuff to either really fine tune the system or really **** up the sound bad...lol.

Your right......the prime reason i need to run 2 is that its not 4x out of the box. Nice unit though, you definelty can make things much worse if you dont know what your doing. Im getting better at it but could use a course in SQ, EQing, RTAs and Time alignment. LOL i flattened it all out thinkin im COOL only to really HATE how it sounded. Over time ill figure it out i guess. Some people tell me they wish they lived closer so they could hear the Hoe, i wish some people like you lived closer so you could come give me lessons in RTA tweakin'. [Big Grin]

Meade...do the EQing last.

First, focus on level setting.

Then phasing using a track that has vocals in and out of phase.

Then you need to do the TA. Use a drum track...something so that the impact of the drum is at the same time as the crack.

Finally you want to EQ. Generally get from about 250 and up flat. Below that you need some boost and cuts to give the bass and midbass impact.

Here is a rough guide to what the different frequencies relate to sound wise:

www.recordingeq.com/Subscribe/tip/tascam.htm

The big boost at 50 that makes loud systems like yours fun to listen to will be the death of standup bass reproduction...lol.

I would worry more with the 250 and up range.

You will notice that as your FR gets smoother, the stage height will rise...and it would get higher with proper phasing too.

Whats a good way to get all the mids/highs in phase? We can all tell when your subs arent in phase and sometimes maybe a set of simple door speakers but for a 4 way system 6 1/2's 4's and 1's.....whats the best way?

Im not lookin for a perfect SQ car of course but nothin wrong with cleanen' her up as much as possible and having teh wang too right [Razz]

Steve, if you can't find any tracks that have in/out phase like the Coustic Setup disk, "My Disk" or the IASCA disk (USACi should have similar tracks too(, then find a mono recording of Jimi Hendriz and use that. If the speakers are in phase, the recording will sound like it all is coming from a single point...out of phase will have voices coming from the left and right sides.

What I would do is to start with the midranges first. turn everything off but the midranges. Get them right. Then do the midbasses the same way. Turn everything off but them and listen. Next the tweeters. Same way.

Then turn them all on and listen. You may have to then change either an individual speaker, or pairs of speakers to get it right with everything playing.

After a while of listening, phasing problems will jump out at you.

I wouldn't do any EQing til the end though...phasing and delays (TA) can effect the reading you get from the RTA.

Be sure to stop by the SQ section if you have any questions...some really GOOD ears stay there (heard a car Eastcoast tuned, and it was pretty damned sweet...and Andy's truck once he gets the midbass rattles down will be hot too).
