Hey guys i recently had an eclipse 5444 deck which had a strong 5 volt signal, I just replaced it with a nice pioneer AVH 6600 flip out, I am not sure exaclty what the voltage on the pioneer deck is but i know its not as high as the eclipse. Well my problem is that my subs dont sound as loud as they were before i made the swap and i am having to crank up the bass boost and all that crap on the unit to get it louder and it stil isnt sounding as loud. I was just bought a kicker KQ5 which should boost my signal up to 7 volts. Will this fix my problem?

Do you use your deck to power the main speakers or do you have a multi-amp setup? If you have all amps then...

Tuning the gain on the amp is needed to compensate the different, in your case lower input voltage, to maintain the same volume gain on your new headunit. This is what you do...turn your Pioneer deck's volume to about 3/4 of its highest setting, turn all the EQ and DSP off, adjust every sound option/volume to "flat" or zero, then go to your amp and find the gain control and turn it to as loud as you like, but if you hit a spot where your sub starts to sound distorted then then it down a bit. Do the same for your mid/high amp. If you use your HU to power the main speakers then apply the same principle to the HU FIRST, then your sub amp.
