what I found from the Phoenix PLD-1 that the clipping light is just a voltage reference, and when the signal level hits that point light turns on... it has NOTHING to do with when the line driver is clipping.. I found depending on the deck and gain setting you can clip long before the light comes on.. or long after but on average when the light stays on completely it's just below clipping (that's playing a sine wave) so if your setting gains with no O-scope play a sine wave and set it so the light just turns on and stays on.. I dont' have much experience with the AC overdrive though, (never got to play with one on the O-scope)

which is better? the AC unit or the PG PLD1? I have an unopend AC and am considering installing it in my next setup (real soon), but am considering selling it and just buying a better HU that has a stronger preamp voltage...How much voltage is enough to drive the RCA's 15ft? Should I sell the AC and just get the cheaper PLD1 and a stronger HU??

Both good units but I would have to give the edge to the PLD1. It's output impedence is lower at 30 ohms versus I think about 50 for the Overdrive.
