I just got my Sony CDX-C5850 HU, but I got the last one (I think they're being discontinued) and it was in the board. Since it was their demo I got 10% off but no manual. I know the gray, gray/black, green, green/black, white, white/black, purple, purple/black are the 4 speakers outs. I'm pretty sure the black is ground, yellow is switched power, and red is constant power. If any of these assumptions are wrong please let me know.

Now there is 2 blue wires, one with a white stripe. Are they both accessory power on or what? I also have a light blue wire. What the???

What is the Right way to connect these up? What kind of connecters? Soldered, Crimped? Every other install I've done has been pretty rough, I'm ready to do it right. All help is appreciated.

Hey Monk, on my Kenwood I have a pair of orange wires that arent hooked up, maybe thats the case with your extra blue wires. The light blue wire should be your remote turn on wire. Yes, black is the ground, red power. Ive found that sodder is the best, if it is available to you. Otherwise i just connected them real well together, and used electric tape(i dont recommend this though)....but get it soddered if you can.

I can;t say specifically ofr the Sony, but on MOST decks with 2 blue wires, one with a white tracer, the traced wire is for a power antenna (it will turn OFF when a CD is put in!!) and the other is the amp remote on.

If I want to do a real neat job, I will buy a harness adaptor, take it apart, pull the wires out of the pins and put the pins directly on the wires from the deck. With the plug reassembled you have a perfect harness with no intermediate connections.

Hey,
The red is switched ignition, the yellow is constant. The blue/white *should* be amp remote, but I'm not positive on that one. The blue should be power antenna lead. These two may be opposite. You've got me on the light blue one, maybe a cell phone mute or another oddity.

The best connection would be to solder. Next would be quality crimp (butt) connectors. Do not twist and tape!
