If I am looking for a CD player that doesn’t skip, and has treble and bass boost that are high (~20k) and low (`30-40Hz) respectfully, what do you recommend. A bass boost of around 100Hz, which was when I looked, seemed to be the majority of head units bass boost frequencies. That is too high for me. I prefer a low frequency boost with a low Q (or wide bandwidth) and am looking for a CD player with maximum skip protection time delay. I'll probably have the USA-8oo driving 2 DD9515's and don’t want to skip (ya right). peace

pioneers are pretty good for not skipping, i'm running a panasonic and it rarely skips on unscratched cd's with subs on. about the bass boost, i'd say you're gonna hafta use a crossover to get boosts at those frequencies... i doubt there are many (if any) head units out there that have boosts that high and low... anyways, why would you want your treble boost at 20k anyway??? most high frequencies and cymbal crashes are more in the 12-17k range... 20k is like screeching metallic sounds like in nine inch nails' old cd's... hope that helped

I like really high and low for treble and bass boost center frequencies useing low Q's.When frequencies are boosted to sharply they sound like crap. \ Pioneers have always had the more lower and higher boost frequencies and sounded good to me. Do they have delays on any of them? ifso how much? maybe I should check out a web site huh. Thats An idea.hehe

I don;t care for buffered decks. Total band aid for not having a good enuf suspension. If you can make any modern deck skip frequently, it is either defective or total garbage.

Ya, but in a 3rd gen F-body GM car, you need a ESP deck. With that mounting angle, any deck WILL skip without it. Besides, ESP does not affect sound quality at all.

I just switched from a premier 700 to an alpine 7940. I couldn't get the premier to skip, but the alpine does it all too often for me, damn thing doesn't even play cdr's. go with a premier/pioneer

Maybe the roads are alot better in Canada. Here in Chicago, home of the worst roads in the country, you need ESP in a 3rd gen F-body. I remember when I was installing while in college in the early early 90's. We sold Kenwood and Alpine. The owner almost always tried to sell F body owners tape player/changer combo's because of the in- dash skipping problem. I know with the new servo laser alignment systems they are far better now, but I'd rather play it safe and just use ESP - problem solved.

Pioneer heads like the Deh-p9200r have adjustable q's and selectible boost down to 40 hz and up to 12.5k hz..Any mine only skips if I play a really scratched cd loud, or hit RR tracks that make my whole car shudder...
