i heard at another web forum the the lower the ohm on the preout the better even if the preout voltage is lower and i mean even 2 volts is this true? and what head unit out there has a low ohms output? and if some can tell me why is low ohms on a preout good for an amps output?thanks for the replys.

Yes, some pre out voltage numbers are at VERY high impedance levels(10,000 ohms on alpines) where as some decks have VERy low impedance(eclipse, some clarions, RF etc). Pre out voltage and impedance are just parts of what makes a good sounding deck(along with other factors). That being said, 2 decks, both listing 4 volts out, may not be equal(if deck A has a resistance of 100 ohms and deck b has a resistance of 10,000 ohms). The lower the resistance, the better.

Well hell with the above post being said, Eclipse must be damn near the best. You said Eclipse has very low output resistance, plus Eclipse makes the highest preout-voltage head unit I know of, with 8 Volt Preouts...awesome.
Others to consider are the Nakamichi CD-45z and CD-700z, and the Denon DCT-Z1...the 700 and Z1 are incredible-sounding decks from what I've read, esp. the Z1.

I haven't heard a Nak, but I have seen many posts about problems playing cdrs. The denons should sound awesome considering how expensive they are. The DCT-Z1 costs what? $2500. It is gorgeous though, and I would love to hear one.

Alot use the panasonic it is 55 ohm preamp the cheapest Nak is a good one to use and not cost a fortune , I have used the panasonic for 2 years now , I now have an Eclipse 5301 i am going to try, it has a preamp impedance of 22ohm but is only 2v , btw there is a few tricks to do to the panasonic to really bring up the preamp voltage without a linedriver

Some of the first Rockfords (pre-Best Buy) had very high output voltage as did some of the older Kenword PS models. You might be able to find some on Ebay.

Clarion!! The 9755 was bad ass for a good little bit, but now the new line is out I'm going for the new DRX925. The clarity is excellent(I'd compare it to a Nak).

I have used eclipse decks for years and love them. I have had my current system louder than I would ever really need it and no skipping at all. I think my deck has skipped twice in a year and that was on incredibly dirty discs. The decks sound awesome too
