Ive been told this unit does it all and there would be no need to get a seperate xover or eq, I was thinking on getting the AC 3.1 for my needs, but if that statement is true, Ill save my dough.

Your answer really depends on what you are going for. If you want to compete with the big boys in IASCA, you will want to have a little bit more control over the tuning than the Kenwood will give you.
But, for pretty much any other application, its got you covered. I have an 815, and I have three RCA outputs, with Non-fader control on the subwoofer out, along with a low-pass from 220-80Hz, and on the front and rear out, I have a high-pass from 80-200something. I'm pretty sure the 915 differences are that it doesn't have an internal amp (everthing has to be on external amps), and it has high AND low pass crossovers on the front and rear.
I would check out the kenwood website (www.kenwoodusa.com) and double check what I've said, I don't know what kind of goodies they have on the 2001 models...
Hope that helps you out.
BTW, if you were looking for even MORE control without getting an external crossover, check out the Pioneer Premier P1R. This thing has it ALL. I don't even know everthing it can do, all I know is that it kicks the eXcelon's ass on tuning bandwidths and such.

Im going to be a daily driver/occasional competitor when I have the time. I plan on competing in any SPL contest I can whether it be IDBL, DBDRAG, USACs many different ones. Im just wondering if that 915 will do what I need it to do .
