I have an 03 Suburban it has Avic N2 with the pac steering wheel control that plugs in. Now I want to put a DD into it. I got a Eclipse AVN 5510 coming, now if I get the pac steering wheel controls do I need to use the universal or the one for Eclipse?
Next, I have the chance to pick up a Pioneer F900BT, will my pac steering wheel controls for Pioneers plug into it and work?
I also have a 98 Grand Prix, has anyone tried putting a DD into it? I am thinking the Pioneer F900BT .

don't waste your money on the AVIC F900BT or F900BT or f700bt. They are all junk. I sold quite a few of them, and most of them are broken or having issues or are at service right now. I'm sure you're probably getting a good deal because either someone is selling a used one that don't work right, or because they were discontinued after less than a full year because of issues, even after the 4 updates that came out for them.
The new model is the AVIC-X910BT. It's the same physical unit with some software changes. We haven't had any issues with them YET. But I'm not too optimistic.
The avicF series cannot use a universal SWC module because they did not have a remote and were NOT IR remote ready. but the SWIPS or PESWIPS worked fine.
For the AVN5510, I would suggest using the PESWIECL2 or SWIECL. but i believe they were remote ready, maybe the RMC105 was the optional remote. so a universal IR SWC would work.
One plus for the AVN's, the maps don't look as childish as the garmins(kenwood). Overall, pretty decent for what was available 2-3 years ago.I never really liked the AVN5510 for a few reason. First, having to remove the nav disc to put in a movie. then pulling the movie out to put the nav disc back in. Another, XM was not an option. The bluetooth was that great either. Ipod controls, Eclipse has never really gotten that right, still to this day
just giving you some input from someone who sold, demo'd, and installed both of these models.
