Every pioneer h/u that i have used for spl SUCKED!!! either it made a shiit pot of noise or didnt have mute pause without going into the menu. For me Alpine is the only way to go. I have also heard nice things about eclipse because of the input voltage.....hope this helps

another point of interest, I was getting Pioneer free in my car and got the usb model so i could use ipod and flash drive, it was in there about a week and a noise developed. I grounded the rca cables and most of it went away but within two months the noise was there and even worse. Last night a friend of mine gave me a 10 year old alpine and i just put it in and no noise NONE. Free or not i will never put another Pioneer head unit in my car............
