ok just got a rfx-8140 and a bnib rfx-8601 from a freind of mine. I remeber seeing these in a ton of db drag vehicles.why?

Im no expert but It could be this:

Preamp Output Voltage
8115/8120/8130 2.4 VRMS @ 0.05% THD
8140 8.5 VRMS @ 0.05% THD (RCA)
17 VRMS @ 0.05% THD (BAL)

yes hi voltage preouts, copper case....BUT in everyday use they turned up to be bad...slow reading of cd....very sensitive on dirty cd/s, vibrations etc...especially when they get older....

I thought they were great decks for everyday use. I used an 8140, 8103 and 8102. Wonderful tuner(probably the best).

8410/8420...was the hu's I know they turned up bad....very sensitive MF's

Ι used to own an RF 8140 deck along with a symmetry EPX...

When i switced to ALPINE the system sounded twice as loud, Seemed like i have put bigger amps...
