was talking with some spl'ers yesterday and they said that they use a seperate battery for their h/u reason being when you hit voltage drop in your battery bank you loose signal outputfrom the h/u as well. that makes alot of sence to me but has anyone ever tested to see how much signal is actually lost and how that translates to spl.

Yes. If you have room for an extra battery just for you head unit, I would suggest adding one or two. Alot people will probably say it won't matter, but it does. Voltage drop is a key factor I think alot of people forget about. I have seen .2-.4db's with doing this. Even on a 16volt system, most poeple don't run their vehicle, but their headunit is ran on 12volts. If they are resting at 12.8-13 volts once you turn everything on there will be a voltage drop. Now with that said is .2-.4db increase worth it? Thats up to you. But is a difference between 1st and 2nd place.

i remember hearing of people using caps just for there decks way back when but i've never heard of a separate battery, good idea though.. if your voltage drops your deck could shut off before your amps go into protect your ****ed
