and you want to do an SPL setup and you are unsure of what set of RCA's to use for your sub's? I would just use the non-fading or subout set. then you have front and rear for high's. Unless Im getting this wrong.

Ok was just wondering because I heard someone said the sub out might hurt spl and that it is best to use front or rear and adjust everything flat for best results, kinda confusing though.

Use any of the normal RCAs, not necessarily sub out.
Find clip point of head-unit.
Choose volume level and adjust amps to suit.

Correct, by off or flat meaning, no loud or +db on sub levels. Subout would be suited best if your planning on using amps for your highs. A true SPL car with no highs would use any set. Finding clip point is simple by turning your amps gain knob to lowest setting then turn your radio up to 3/4 of full, then adjust amps to meet headunit until clipping then just turn back a little.Which I'm sure you know I'm just being anal
