It seems to be a common theme with Pioneer head units that there's a good amount of ground loop noise. My main issue isn't with the noise. I recently installed a JL 300/4 amp and after I connected all the wires to test the stereo out, it sounded terrible. It sounded like whoever I was listening to recorded the cd underwater. There was no bass or mid-bass and it just sounded absolutely horrible. The odd thing though was that if I moved the balance/fade off center, the sound got better. Also if I lowered the levels of the high pass filters on either the front or rear speakers, the sound improved. Any ideas what this issue could be?

did you use rca's to connect your amp or the high impedance input if you used the high impedance inputs maybe you got left and right wires mixed up otherwise try grounding a peice of speaker wire to the chassis of the deck and the outside ground connecter of the rca and see if that helps, the pioneers are notorious for breaking the ground inside and would cause them to be noisy
