I hooked up one of my new amps to test it out with some old woofers. i started playing test tones and when i would take the volume on the head unit half way up the always on fuse for my head unit blew and the whole head unit completely shut off, tryed this again and it blew again. i can not figure out why this is happening. I thought that all that wire did is hold memory like clock and presets and that it did not draw any power from that wire for amplifying any sound. i have a DEH5900 pioneer head unit. any ideas?

Hey Greg...we could hook your new amp up in my car and just put it on the 18 on 1 ohm (or 4 ohms if you want to be a pansy )...and see if the same happens in mine....somethings fishy about it.
Actually...the more I think about it I'd bet it was because your voltage dropped pretty bad on those low test tones and current went up on everything..the electrical in the truck is bone-stock, but then again the amp was only on 2 ohms, hmm...just a thought
