right now my sub are running only on the sub preamp output. I would like to use either the front or rear pre amp output to also run the subs, since i have two seperate amps. would that work.

Yes it would work as long as there isn't an independent sub volume on the sub channel. I would run the other amp off of the rear output and set the sub out to 0 and try to match them by setting the gains. More than likely your deck does have a sub volume control and this wouldn't be a good idea. It is possible as long as the same signal is being sent to the sub amps. What's wrong with just splitting the signal coming out of the sub out of the deck and running it to the amps? Or using a pass through if your amps have this option?

That wouldn't work right...the crossover points on the rear/front rcas are different then the sub level.

Use a line driver or set the amps properly and the line votlage doesn't matter

That actually even depends if the deck has a crossover and if it is on. My deck has this option to even shut the crossover off and just run full signal. That would be possible if each set of preamps is run in full signal and then crossedover at the amp.

Which is possible with high end head units.

But the guy said his deck has 2.2 volt preouts and seems like he doesn't know "too much" about car audio.

Just telling you what I'd tell someone in a general situation. Sure there are times when it differs.

But your still saying you'd use your rear output AND sub output to run 2 seperate sub amps? no you wouldn't

No, I said that I would just split the signal at the back of the deck and run two pairs of rca's or run a single pair of rcas and then split the signal at the amps. Or even use a pass through method to run rcas to both amps.
