Does anyone know the approximate output voltage or volume knob setting before the eclipse CD5000 units begin sending a clipped signal through the pre-outs? It has 8V pre-outs (I tested - it puts out a measured 8V at full volume on the multi-meter), but I would assume that by that point the signal is clipped. I know the proper way to figure this out is with an oscilliscope, but I don't happen to have access to one.

Thanks,

Hans

it's going to depend where you have all the equalizer and level settings at.

Agreed... All equalization/signal processing is flat or bypassed. Straight signal with no processing applied. Testing with 0db tone.

Thanks,

Hans

On Eclipse decks that go up to 80volume, I normally adjust the amps with the headunit on a volume between 56 and 63, depending on which deck, and what input level the amps can handle.

i set my gains to go up to volume 72 right before clipping, on my eclipse 8053, seems to be the sweet spot for output in my setup

Funny thing is, that right between 72-73 is where the signal seemed to begin to sound a bit "off" to my ears. Thanks for the input. Guess I should trust my ears more.
