Well apparently the vibration was too much for my Eclipse CD5000. It froze on me last night and after resetting it any vibration causes it to shut off and turn back on. Running over a railroad track killed it to where I couldn't turn it on without resetting it first.
So, I'm in the market for a new deck. I need something that can withstand my wall, sounds good (as good as the Eclipse) and plays mp3s. That's all I need.
Right now I'm looking at the Eclipse 7100, but I've had problems with most Eclipse decks I've had. Anybody have any other suggestions?

My budget is $500-600. We're going to do some work on the dash so hopefully this doesn't happen again.
What do the people who bassrace 150+ do?
I'll check out the nicer Alpines and Kenwoods. I know I've heard them mentioned quite a bit.

I'm thinking about the Alpine 9887 with the 6 disc changer. The combo would be in my budget. Don't have any experience with Alpine, but might be time for a change.

that would be a sweet combo. and the 9887 can be set by a shop for perfect time alignment and EQ. dealers get a special tool that automatically does it. Our Alpine rep. was just in here yesterday

Played with a 9885 at Best Buy today. Read up on the 9887... so do you have to have the Imprint deal to be able to adjust some settings? That's what some people have said in some online reviews. Has me confused.

Don't have an iPod and don't plan on getting one anytime soon. Going to wait and see what everybody brings out at CES first.
And also it wasn't a problem with skipping, the unit just died after 9-10 months of heavy abuse. I don't think I'm that loud, maybe high 140s.

I use the Fusion FCD-255 when I basss race 150+ It has a 40 ESP that reads ahead constantly and you can even take out the cd and it will play for 40 seconds. Awesome deck

I went through two 8443s. First one got damaged when my truck was broken into. The second one just stopped playing cds. Still my favorite HU out of all that I've owned. I think over the last couple years the quality and quality control has diminished for Eclipse. Still sound awesome, just not reliable, from what I've read anyways.
