I'm looking for a new head unit with rotary volume control. I know nothing about head units so need some help. I'm looking to spend about $250-$300. Anybody have any suggestions. If there are some better withou rotary nobs that would be ok, but what do you guys think is the best for the price.

I know that eclipse head units have rotary knobs. I think JVC, some higher lines from Pioneer, Some Alpine units have that feature, and i think Nakamichi does to. Although prices im not sure about. Most units with rotary knobs retail for 350 dollars and up, for new units. Look around for deals, sometimes a used unit isnt a bad thing, just look around.

I had a Rockford Fosgate RFX-8230 in my last install, it had a rotary knob for volume and other functions. It was VERY convenient. Just turn the knob for volume, push it for bass, treble, balance, fade, sum volume and adjust them with the knob when they are selected. I really liked the unit. It is discontinued but this year's units are nearly the same. Look into an RFX-8330, the only thing I think is different from the 8230 is the illumination color. You can get them for a good price too, in your range.

i've got a rockford 8120 and i absolutely love it. it has pretty good sq, but the layout on it is absolutely superb. the cd player switches tracks EXTREMELY fast, and so does the tuner. their units are often overlooked, but, in my opinion, i think (for the money) they are some of the best units on the market.

The Rockfords are awesome! The control is so simple! All the volume and sound controls all on one knob. I love mine! And for the money its rare to find good pre amp (2.4 volts) outs like the Fosgate has. The remote is pretty nice too and it is included in the price unlike some of the lower end Eclipse decks.

HEHE, im starting to like this dbrookie dood. Anyway, i didnt know RF had good units. That kinda surprised me when i had one over heat and melt my CD while in the unit. RF didnt wanna warranty the unit till i had 4 ppl send personal letters along with my unit as witnesses. As for now, i love my Eclipse 5504 (1999 Model). Good luck and have a merry christmas

Isn't that sweet?!?!?!! I loved mine because of that. One button could do almost everything you need. Also, they don't have the useless features and graphics that a lot of other units are starting to get. Just a simple, great performing, unit.

Rybaudio you are exactly right! I hate all these new decks that are like $400 plus and dont do anything but run a screen saver or have sound feild presets that nobody wants. I love the Fosgates cuase they have only the features that really matter.

Yep, a lot of new decks have worthless features that serve no purpose except attracting stupid teenagers who don't know better. Not that all teenagers are stupid. I mean, who the hell needs dolphins jumping on the screen of their cd player in their car? Just a stupid feature if you ask me.

All clarion units (except the 9675) have a knob. The 6675 is $249 and has been selling well. Check it out at your local dealer.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll have to look at the ones you suggested.

I'm the same as you guys. I like to be able to change bass, and all that good stuff with the nob.

EVen though I found an awesome deal on a hu with all those features that I'm probably going to get. Guess I'm a hyprocrite
