THe 7000 only has 5v preouts actually, if you're looking for something with similar quality, go with the Eclipse 5000, that gives you 8v preouts, and isn't bogged down with stupid nav and gps type stuff.
The 5000 has much more useful features like internal crossover and slope adjustment, with great variability I might add [Smile]
Otherwise, for the price the eclipse 3000 is a great deal!

I'm looking at ordering the cd7000 also.

The 7000 doesn't have internal crossover?

and 5 volt preout will be fine most of the time as long as you set your amps accordingly.

ANd i like the GPS stuff lol

I don't really recommend the CD 7000 to most customers; it is VERY complicated. I do LOVE mine though. It was a little tricky to get everything dialed in; but it sounds awesome.

just some inputs for my cd5000,

8volts is pretty nice. i turned gains & bass boost down to 0 literally. prevoius head unit was deh-1800 which is 2.2v, i think. the gains & bass bost was at 1/2.

i have notice problems lately with the cd5000 is knob volume control and changing cd track number by itself. the knob volume sometime turn volume by itself. not much but it change by 2 or 3 volume. [Mad]

I have the same problems as you. Most annoying is when it'll start the track over when the bass first hits in the song. Doesn't happen all the time, but enough to get annoying. That and the volume getting turned down a notch or two by itself. I think the knobs are just too sensitive.

Minor annoyances, but it sounds very good.

yeah the 5000 is definitely a nice unit. Only thing i don't like about them is the fact that they have no pause button.

I have the 8445 and here is some problems that I hope do not carry over.

1) In "advanced mode". You are not allowed to fade front and rear speakers.

2) No rear crossover.

3) No actual pause button if I recall on the deck (and I can't find the remote).

4) Memorystick player had a size limit of 128mb or something which for the time was even small. (256-512mb being mainstream use I think).

5) Why have steering wheel support and etc, but only select vehicles (i-serv download). And then PAC steering wheel control issues.

6) For a nice screen on this 8445 It would be great if like the Alpine 9835 it replaced had a folder browse function, browsing smoothly viewing 3 lines of mp3's as I scrolled to preview.

7) No detachable face.

The new deck has a detach face...cool usb deal that I bet allows you to add all kinds of jazz.Just read the manual and what it says...all 178 pages. There are some things that make you go "that sucks it doesn't do that". But I have to say my 8445 does circles around the Alpine 9835 I had (which did have say a fader for example). My alpine had trouble with mp3's with complete mp3 id tags kind of wouldn't read them, became half assed. If I put a complicated full info'd out c.d. in the alpine it was as good as junk in there. My eclipse...no problems.
Do the 7000 series, you are already dumping enough money.
