Does the decoder converts it to .wav or .cda first, then go through the onboard D/A converters? I have dual 20-bit burr-brown D/A converters in my headunit and playing mp3s seems softer than playing a store bought CD. Even mp3s that are decoded at 320kbps from the same CD still doesn't seem to "sound" like the original.
Also, what about headunits that can play mp3s on a DVD-R? If I burn .wav files on a DVD and play it in those players would it still sound like the original?
