Have they fixed the extreme skipping on these yet? I was told by our local car audio shop that the newer sony cd players are better at not skipping. Any truth to that?? I hated my old one, skipped very easily!!

I bet Sony is that shop's primary brand of head unit. I used to sell Sony & in my opinion, when they discontinued the ES line, they went downhill. Seemed like they were trying to feature load their units and sell them for a reasonable price. Only problem was the reliability fell. I used to love Sony (was my brand head unit of choice), and tried their Xplode when they introduced the lineup. Bad mistake, removed it and tried Pioneer for the first time and loved it. Nowadays (15 years later), I use Alpine for my SQ vehicles and Pioneer in my daily drivers (and the wife's car!).

By the way, the last Sony hu I used prior to trying out the Xplode line was the CDX-U8000 with the 10 disc changer. That thing was well ahead of it's time if the older crowd remembers that unit. Cost me a grand out the door uninstalled.

I LOVE my sony....but it's not you ever day sony. Mine is a CDX MP-80..it is in the xplode line but don't hold that against it. People seem shocked when they see the cd tray slide out. Ever one want's to know who make's it...they can't belive it's sony.

G-shock technoliges ROCK....153.4 certified DB drag....it will burp with out a singel skip. I also had it in a diffrnt car that was doing 48's...playing musice not a singel skip....and the deck was just sittping in the dash.
