IMO Pioneer's AVIC line is the best.

Alpine has the TouchPulse system but I think it's worthless. Jensen doesn't have touch control at all.

how much different is the AVIC-N1 to the AVIC-N2 is it worth the huge price gap between the two.

I'm not sure but the current model is AVIC-N3 [Wink]

Probably different button color, improvements on various little things, etc.

Clarity- Audiovox/jensen, Kenwood and alpine IVAD 901. (In that order)

Features- Pioneer Avic series.

Soundquality- Kenwood, Alpine (toss up)

Reliability- Alpine IVAD 901, Kenwood, Pioneer (In that order)

I haven't messed with too many Sonys Panasonics or clarions.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, it's just a shame that the soundquality suffers and there isn't any type of security measures. If they were to address these two issues, I think they would have a unit that would be a serious contender. (that and maybe a better responding front panel)
