I just picked up an Eclipse 5301 and was just wondering how would it be for SQ and whatnot. Also was wondering if anyone had or knows of people that have 5301/5302's that are damaged and what to get rid of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This particular 5301 had a lil over heating problem with the CD Transport. Somthing in the transport was drawing to much current and over heating the voltage regulator and it would shut the transport down. so since i did'nt feel like selling my soul to jestar and Wait 2 years to get my 5301 back i fixed it myself, yesiriebob did i ever. lol with the aid of a CPU fan from a 486, 1 amp reed relay some duct tape, cardboard and epoxy i fixed the overheating problem, with the help of removing the internal antenna conector in favor of a pigtail, and moving a cap that was in the way of the fan. Do any of u think that this will hamper the sound quality of this unit.

Shadow are you familar with the innards of an eclipse cause that would make this much easier, if not, here goes its mounted where the antenna used to reside. it is about half an inch away from an IC and its right beside the tuner module. it gets power straight from the female end of the molex plug
